Please help with question!

I just got my powerpak from retro zone when i first put it in it kept blinking on and off changed the 72 pin connector same thing then i decided to hold down reset and now works fine everytime after that anyone know why??? did it have to sync to a region or some other odd
reason or create a file by holding reset???

That was most likely the ciclone. It was designed to try each region in turn. As soon as it hits a failure shortly after startup, and gets a full reset, it will try the next region. Once it no longer fails after a period, it saves that region setting, and should never need to be synced again, unless it goes into another nes of a different region. As a result, the ciclone in your retropak did its job.

Yep, from the powerpak manual:
"If your system is blinking but shows video try pressing the reset button. This will tell the Ciclone to try the next
region. When the correct region is found it will be saved so this process should only be needed once. If you
have hit reset 8 times and it is still blinking your 72 pin connector inside the NES may need to be cleaned or
replaced."
