nes humming when hooked up by av cables

so my friend has a 40 inch lcd flat screen he hooked up his nes to with the av cables (yellow, white, red) through one of the ports in the back of the tv. the games play fine, but there is a low humming sound. is there any way to get rid of this? i have mine hooked up like this and the sound is fine.

I usually get a humming sound if the adapter is going bad, or isn't the correct one, this happens on my SMS because it's not the proper adapter. Have you tried using your adapter on his NES, or hooking your NES up to his LCD? Might help for some troubleshooting I think. I'm not a hardware guy, by the way, but my past experience in a console humming was because of the adapter used to plug in the system to the wall.

do you mean the power adapter or rf adapter? i am using the av cables (red, white and yellow) to hook it up

I had the same issue with my NES when I was using a cheap thirdy-party AC power adapter. Try a working Nintendo brand AC power adapter and see if that fixes the problem for you. It fixed it for me.

You will get a hum and some video noise if the power supply is wrong.
Most people dont know what the rating means or how to read them.
Nes uses an AC to 9vAC most systems are ac to dc and around 9v.
Then you have to check dc adapters because they can have different polarities making the center + or -

I just did a rgb nes for some one and they ran into the hum problem cuz of the wrong power adapter.

Try unplugging the audio cables. See if that cures it. If not, plug them back in and unplug the video cable (probably yellow). If neither stops it, try some quality, well-shielded cables.
