I'm having a problem with the USB NES RetroPort working. It's recognized, & the control pad works sometimes but the buttons don't register.
Are there any drivers available to fix this? I'd try to contact Bunnyboy but he never answers my PMs.
Thank you.

Sadly, that sounds familiar.
Bunnyboy posted earlier that he doesn't respond to PMs in part because he keeps getting logged out. You might have better luck with e-mail, but I wouldn't rely heavily on it. Although I don't have a retro port, it is my understanding it's supposed to work with standard drivers. Perhaps you should try the unit on another computer and see if you have better luck or not.
(I think bunnyboy has reached the point where he needs to hire some employees....)
I tried the device on the desktop computer & it has the same problem on there as well.
I even tried a different gamepad - no difference.
It's funny, because when I open "Game Controllers" in the Control Panel list & go to Properties, I can press the buttons & they will all register, but not when playing a game.
I'm reluctant to use JoyToKey because I have games that are Joystick-only games.
Does anyone have Bunnyboy's email address? Last time I checked, his contact info wasn't on his site.
did you map the buttons in the game your trying to play?
what are you trying to play with it? are they compatable with USB HID controllers

If your question is not answered in the FAQ, send to retrozone at retrousb dot com.
There you go!

Oh, silly me - there it is. :p
Whenever I try to map the control buttons, nothing comes up when I press a button, & leaving it at 'Button 1' , 'Button 2' , etc. doesn't help.
Are there some sort of HID drivers I can download?
I bought the new NES-to-USB adapters from Retrozone, and they work great. The only problem I have with them is that it can be hard to get the NES controller cable to plug into the adapter because the fit is so tight. So it really isn't a problem, though as it probably needs to be tighter than the NES's ports in order to prevent disconnecting.
There is a chance that you have a dud, but I am sure if that is the case, bunnyboy will replace it. His hardware is good stuff. I just wish that he would provide a low-level NES-to-USB adapter, which allowed emulation authors access to the actual controller pin data, so support could be added via software for any NES peripherial. A similar thing was done with the N64 Adaptoid.
That would be cool but it'd require a driver for each system and mean a lot more time spent "bit banging" the controller having to move up and down in abstraction.
I bought the SNES Retroport and have had no problems with it. I bought it with the intention of using it with NES emulators. I figure X and A make good autofire buttons and L and R make good rewind/fast forward buttons :)
Are these things meant for just emulators? Because after trying it on FCE Ultra, & NESTopia, it worked fine but doesn't work for any PC games that use gamepads like Pitfall, Duke Nukem 3D, etc.
It's not like these games require any special gamepads or anything.
How do the gamepads show up in Control Panel > Gaming Options > Properties?

It appears as an 8-button controller that responds to buttons 1-4 pressed respectively: B, A, Select, Start
Are you saying the Up, Down, Left, Right show up as buttons, not as axes?
It works with Game Maker games!
That's a good start.
