How to Backup Kirby's Adventure Save Files with Kazzo?
by on (#193965)
Hello,

I just received my Kazzo device and am trying to backup my save file. However, I seem to be incapable of figuring out the
necessary steps to do this.

I am able to properly dump the ROM (and verified it works in an emulator), however, even though I checked the 'battery' checkbox, it doesn't appear to create the .sav file.

The options as I've filled them out:
script: mmc3.ag
ROM image: kirby.nes
Program ROM: x4
Character ROM: x2
battery: checked
changed mapper: unchecked

All I get is the kirby.nes file and no .sav file.

The battery checkbox is only for the iNES header actually.
To dump the save file you have to go to the tab workram and read/write the RAM from there using the mmc3 script.

Thanks!

For anyone else having trouble:
  • Create a new file using Windows Explorer or cmd.exe (e.g., 'kirby.sav')
  • Open anago_wx.exe (windows_062_GUI)
  • Click the 'workram' tab
  • Select the 'mmc3.ag' script
  • Select the file you created (e.g., 'kirby.sav') for the 'RAM image' under the 'RAM read' section
  • Click the 'read' button

The 'kirby.sav' file should now be an 8KB save file.
