FamiClone video glitches, can it be repaired?
by on (#160966)
Hi there, i own an original Famicom and i did the AV mod from the jpx72 tutorial and it is working perfectly. The picture is just crisp, perfect, no issue at all with the original Famicom

Then We tested 2 famiCLONES, which are supposed to be a clone of the original but the picture is really bad.  We tested 2 famiclones and different video cables and 9v power and we got the same results. FamiClones were giving some kind of video interference that always appears when there is movement near another picture. Even if the screen has only words, there is interference.

I want to know if there is some kind of mod that could be done to a famiclone, just like on the jpx72 tutorial, because i know that capacitors are really good for removing interference,  but i don´t know what can i do since the board is different, in the original you need to remove a transistor and soder cables to it, but the famiclone is really different.

any idea?

Random guess: the artifacts are due to reflections because of an incorrect impedance for the video cable.
If this is true, the length of the video cable you're using should change the way it looks.

What lengths did you use?
