This is related to what I need in my hack:
There is no HES2MIDI converter, and the design fails if doing it the PC-Engine way, and Johnnyz (My buddy that helps with some music) has his computer down for a year and a half now!
So I must say this:
I need someone to either make a full set of MIDIs for JJ and Jeff/Ken Chan and Kato Chan, or at least some cover in FamiTracker with all the songs. to make my hack's music.
If using FamiTracker It also needs to be made with FamiTracker 3.6, compatible with the FamiTone Library,
I know this will be difficult right now due to many things, but please, I am not good at making music, but SFX can be done on my own using FamiTracker 3.6!
Here is the Format of most songs in the game:
CH1 - Main1 (NES Square 1)
CH2 - Main2 (NES Square 2)
CH3 - Main3 (VRC Pulse 1, or MMC5 Square 1)
CH4 - Saw (VRC Saw or Triangle)
CH5 - Main4 (VRC Pulse 2, or MMC5 Square 2)
CH6 - Noise (NES Noise)
EDIT: Jedi says he may assist, so he may do the music covers if he wants.
EDIT2: Typo-Fixed
Are you saying you want original music or covers of existing music?
Either way, I might be interested in lending a hand.

Covers of existing music, and if you have time, maybe original.
Also, can give credit!
EDIT: HES is availible here, Archived by Gil-Galad of Arc-Nova, look under HES, then K (for Ken-Chan & Kato-Chan) for the music:

You have to actually have an HES Player or something, Try NEZplay/NESplug or something. It is a 7z file so 7-Zip is required
I'm going to take the time to see a video of this game, just to see it in context.
Before I go looking around, is it possible to split individual tracks in HES?
If so, that would make life just dandy.

Sorry, There is no HES track splitter, as it's basically all Code and Data from the rom, like an NSF.
Very well. I'll take a shot at it, nonetheless.
The HES plugin for WinAmp, NEZPlug+ at least lets you disable individual sound channels, which is handy...

Also notable is a HEX Editor for viewing the internals of the music/sound!
NEZPlay, Also has the same features, but it's standalone!
GNSF is also perferred over the NSF part of NEZPlay/NEZplug, of which has a hotkey feature for pause, ect.
That's what I'm talking about! Thank you.
This game should've been called Jeff & Jer.
(After the radio announcers here in San Diego.)
FYI-
JJ and Jeff uses the TIMER interrupt to drive the music engine, instead of vblank interrupt. The tick rate is ~318hz instead of ~60hz. Seems to be the same for every song, so that's probably a good thing.
I'll start with something easy (as a way to show progress without having to do much work
):
http://www.box.net/shared/gh1eovntpcme0t9z5onv
I think what I'll do is make MIDIs of these files, & then I'll have them converted to NSF later (I don't know if I should do this myself.)

Not Bad. In fact it all matches up to the original song!
The problem is: Box.net, MediaFire-variants are not my favorite site, so to upload Video Game Midis, Try to make an account at
www.vgmusic.com
The other problem is that FamiTracker conversions should be made by hand, because MIDIs won't convert well in FamiTracker with it's converter.
MML can be doable, on the other hand, but Sound Effects are not possible yet.
I wasn't aware that FamiTracker
had a converter. Isn't "by hand" the best way to get good results? I remember when NT2 was the only "user-friendly" available program.
By the way, I was banned from VGMusic.
I'm planning a retaliation.
(Not kidding!
)

Then find a host for your MIDIs, Webs.com (was Freewebs) is my choice, They got good hosting, and it's free, but there is a watermark you must put down in every page!
I apologise if it sounds like spam, it's a perferred host!
If you need 2 composers I'll help too. Don't worry I'm not expecting to get paid or anything.
@Jedi QuestMaster - If you wish to work alone I understand I'm just really desperate to do music for at least one NES game.
And how did you get banned from VGMusic.com? You were pretty much the only one who's MIDI files I would download from that site.
It may or may not be related, but I seem to remember that VGMusic went through a period of banning people who used automated tools to convert music from the console's format to MIDI.
Ah, I see. When I do my NES>MIDI covers, I do it by hand.

Great, you are up. Thank you.
This is a educational/hobby project of course, It is meant to be fun. This is not really a job. and as I said before, I cannot make music.
Thanks for everyone helping me. I really appreciate it!

For posting this:
Ironic seeing as one of the mods posted a Goatse image. This was on April 1st, by the way.
By the way, Doommaster1994, I don't mind as long as we're not working on the same track.
I'm going to cover
Field 1 Area 2 next (Field 1-2).
LOL funny pic!
Working on separate tracks might get the job done faster so that's a good idea. Has the title music been done? Also can I do MIDI files instead of Famitracker?
Doommaster1994 wrote:

To my knowledge, no one has done it yet.
Field 1-2 done:

Anyway, school's starting again, (yay
) & I probably won't have time to do anything else.
But that's okay, 'cause you've got
Doommaster Nineteen Ninety Four on your side!
w00t!
Awesome, job, JediQuestMaster! I'm going to do what the game's music does and tune it sharp a little. School starts next month for me but I still got a lot of free time on my hands.

EDIT: Can I also be credited in the game as an alias?
