Can you provide comparative mp3s of how these are supposed to sound? I'm not sure if there's problems with modified Notso Fatso or what. That said, this is mainly for Disch -- I can work on this if need be, but obviously I'll need some assistance, since sound engines aren't my thing. :-)

1) The Sonic 3 song uses the MMC5 expansion. Audibly, the song repeats a beat over and over, but there's nothing else (square/etc.). Weird.

2) The DKC song loads in Notso Fatso for a brief moment (you get song information in the Play Control/NSF Info tab), then Winamp exits (presumably the DLL is crashing).

Fun times ahead!

1. It's pretty true to the original-- his theme in that game was just a small drum loop.

2. works for me in Notso, takes a couple seconds for it to begin though.

drums could be tighter in Chai Kingdom, but other than that it's pretty close.

The sonic 3 song uses MMC5 expansion because in another file, there are other songs that use MMC5 expansion.

If it doesnt work on NotSoFatso then use Audio Overload. Though it works fine on my NotSoFatso.

I figured out the "issue" with Notso Fatso: I use the "Stop after XXX ms of silence" option, with 1200ms specified. With this enabled, since the very first track of DKC starts after ~2 full seconds, Notso Fatso simply starts then stops. :-) It's not crashing Winamp (I was wrong in that regard, sorry).

Sorry for the noise! Very cool to see people making music for the console. :D

What is "MMC3 expansion"? Doesn't that just refer to bankswitching your DPCM samples? I seem to remember some magazines that were under the impression that Super Mario Bros. 3 had a synth chip, just because it used MMC3's alternate banking mode to switch samples into $C000-$DFFF.

There's no bass in this song really.. and the snare sample sounds really fuzzy.

oh and the DKC cover's bass sounds really dirty and has a lot of static to it, try changing the duty cycle slower or not changing it at all.

For the version 2 of green hill. I need to know how to create clean dpcm samples. I did saw a topic about it but i found nothing of use for me from there. And the programs mentioned there werent linked and google didnt help either. The reason they're fuzzy is that they sounded good in the beginning but not that much when i completed the song. The bass was in that song but i made it an octave higher witch apparently made it non-existent... its lowered now. Ill get to fixing that DKC song after im done with GHZ.

The frequency slides are lacking in Sky Base Zone.
