People have suggested that someone put Game_Music_Emu's NSF playback engine into NotSoFatso's Winamp GUI. Now that I've finally got a fairly complete NSF playback engine that supports all sound chips, and support for per-channel panning and echo enhancement, such a project is reasonable to consider. I'm not sure how coupled the GUI is to the NotSoFatso core playback engine, but I doubt it could be that hard to uncouple. So, is this a worthwhile project, and if so, any Windows developer to do the conversion?
I could vouch for it to be a worthwhile project since Winamp plugins are also XMPlay compatible. However, stand-alone players are also quite nice; and I'm guessing the UI could also be used in the stand-alone player -- unless it's Winamp API only.
I'll volunteer Disch for the task, at least for the initial build/release. ;-) If he wants me to maintain it (bugfixes, etc.) I can do that.
And hell, since the only NSF-specific thing is the configuration GUI, it might as well be made into a reusable shell for any game music format. As I understand it, NotSoFatso's central feature is its smooth integration of multi-track music files into Winamp.
