Yes, It is really down, As a result. I could not download Thefox's NT2-SDL program.

This is just a reminder

I didn't know he had a site, so I'm kind of glad you made this thread : ) I'll have to start paying closer attention, I guess!

Is there a way to get the latest version somewhere else? I did a quick search on the net but couldn't find it.

No, Unfortunately.

I wish there was an better alternative to MCK, PPMCK, FamiTracker and Nerdtracker. One that can Import MOD and IT files. (Or have MOD/IT files converted to FamiTracker/Nerdtracker)

I am going to contact JSR (Creator of FamiTracker) about making this possible. (And correct the $0200-$02ff spr-ram conflict)

Hi Hamtaro126. There is a tool called s3m2nsf that can convert S3M files to NSF, maybe you can use that?

If you have RAM conflicts then you can download the NSF source and change it to whatever you prefer.

But how would it handle S3M's instruments, which are all samples in most versions of the format?

by on (#34559)
Music for that tool must be written with a special set of instruments, and the same would be necessary to make a MOD / IT import functionality usable in famitracker.

I can try again to make a 4track IT/MOD to NT2 converter.

I am downloading S3M2NSF and NT2RE right now.

how bout a NSF to IT or MOD instead.

First, the converter would need to know the data formats of the specific music engine that the NSF uses, so that the converter can map the envelopes and such onto the XM or IT model.

I'll give someone 10 bucks to make an nsf2IT converter

Which NES music playback engine do you want it to work with? NT2? Famitracker? MCK? Capcom's? Making it work with all possible music playback engines is probably AI-complete.

If you rigged up something like NSF2MIDI, but for IT files instead, you could faithfully reproduce the sound perfectly. You'd just need to detect envelopes, vibrato, and different notes. User adjustable threshholds let you turn that stuff into note commands, but otherwise, you can just set the tempo and frame rate high enough for an IT file, and do it brute force.

Does IT have duty cycle envelopes? If not, it wouldn't reproduce SMB3, which uses duty cycle envelopes. And good luck making any recognizable output with Silver Surfer.nsf.

by on (#34608)
Can't you fake duty cycle envelopes by using 4 IT channels per square wave, then using volume envelopes to switch the duty cycle that gets played?

by on (#34718)
Either way, I'm pretty damn sure that an IT would be way more better and accurate sounding than a Midi conversion.

I tried doing NSF2Midi then Midi2IT and it's not exactly perfect to convert since NSF2Midi already takes away alot of original elements of the song.
