NSF Support on Xbox
by on (#18382)
Hey guys, dunno if anyone remembers me. It's been awhile...but anyway wanted to say wassup and:

There is now support for NSF files on xbox using Zsnexbox. Xboxes make great media centers, besides decent emulators..

More here: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=554201

It may have been more appropriate if Blargg posted this, since he helped a bit, but well...I wanted to spread they joy now ;)

Cool! I have a modded Xbox, and I'll take a look at it this weekend (the site you linked is blocked here at work).

I see people complaining in that thread about the fact that XBMC can already play NSF files (something which I did not know). Do you the difference in playback performance for XMBC vs ZSNES?

Ahh, when I posted I tried to find out if XBMC would playback NSF as I thought I had seen awhile ago, but I couldn't find anything, so I assumed it didn't.

I just tried it now and if you open a .NSF from the 'My Music' view it does indeed show you a list of tracks and seems to work well.

Maybe Blarrg can offer an opinion as to any advantage to using the playback engine in zsnexbox over xbmc...??

I think the primary motivation to offering video game music format playback was to improve the emulator gui that little bit, over playing .mp3s in the background.

I finally got to try this out last night. It is awesome!

When I loaded up an NSF into XMBC, it really fucked up. Played it at about double speed and just sounded horrible.

Thanks again for telling me about this, and thanks Blaarg for your work on this project!
