[Job Offer] 13 track 8-bit NES Science Fiction "Action" RPG
by on (#193104)
Forgive me if this is against the rules or not in the right spot, I couldn't find a better spot or any pinned rules. I am looking for a NSF/NSFE composer for a game project I am working on.

I posted this on another forum I frequent, but thought crossposting it here would make a lot of sense. Here is a link to that post (https://forum.yoyogames.com/index.php?t ... ack.24578/), so I don't have to edit multiple posts should something need changing.

Thanks for reading :!:

Edit: If it isn't showing up yet, the post is awaiting moderation (all job offer posts are moderated there).

You might also try the famitracker forums

http://forums.famitracker.com

Most musicians don't visit nesdev.

You will also get more responses if you describe your project more, and give a time frame, and release method (free download vs paid cartridge). Maybe some details about yourself.

Your link may be broken.

Thanks for the advice, will do. The link was broken for a while because that sub-forum requires a mod to OK all posts. Should be working now.

If you want to use 13 tracks, the only way to go is to use the Namco sound extension with 8 voices turned on while also using all 5 tracks of the 2A03 (DPCM included). On real hardware, this result in aliasing and hissing sound (note : I personally never heard a real Namco chip - only FDS and MMC5 i have for real at home). The VRC7 is only 6 voices and 2A03 5, so that's 11 voices total.

I'm personally not used to compose for so many tracks simultaneously. However with chorus/echo that's a cheap way to use more voices and sound better :)

I guess he means tracks as songs not as channels.

Haha, you're right I got it wrong.

I'd be interested to do one or two tracks, if this helps to get the game done, because it looks interesting. There's no way I'm doing 13 of them and there's no way I'd being paid either.

Haha, well I certainly wouldn't turn down someone doing free music. If you wanted to do any of them I would certainly accept submissions and credit you if they get used.

Apologies for the tracks/songs confusion. I should have known from lurking on here in the past that you folks are pretty precise and technical when it comes to this stuff!

Cool, I just have a quesion. And should I use exclusively the VRC6 (like Lagrange Point) or also the 2A03 ? Is uage of DPCM allowed, or is the 2A03 used to create drums ?
I'll see if I can find some inspiration :)

Any news on what you've chosen to do?

I sent him a PM with a song I've composed but he didn't reply.
