Some of my Zapper games aren't working:
Super Mario/Duck Hunt/WCTM
Hogan's Alley
For some reason, there's no white flashes, the screen just flashes with no white parts (thus, the zapper won't work).
I know it's not the gun, it works just fine with SMB/Duck Hunt, just not with the games listed above.
Can you give me some help here?
Is this with an emulator you wrote, on your real console, or on any other emulator with what might be bad roms?
In case it's an emulator: The Zapper doesn't need to see white. It can see any light color ($10, $21-$2C, $31-$3C) and still activate the photodiode. My test ROM
Zap Ruder tests this. Not having a Zapper plugged in at all shows up as continuously activating the sensor, and a game might read the sensor at the end of vblank and use that to tell whether the Zapper is plugged in.
Its a real nes/real cartridges
Are you on an lcd? LCDS dont work with zappers.
edit: nevermind you said it works on a couple of games.
Wait... so it works on SMB/Duck Hunt but not Super Mario/Duck Hunt/WCTM???
Have you gone back and forth between the two to CONFIRM? Not like the zapper was working then wasn't because of some bad connector or something fishy?
Might be a stupid question, but you do have the zapper plugged into the second controller port right? Is everything original equipment (not using a clone or something)?
It's a regular tube tv, a real NES, a real zapper, if it weren't plugged in right it wouldn't do anything.
Is the front of the zapper clean? Have you tried another?
How about holding it real close to the TV screen?
UPDATE:
One of my friends has an NES. Tried Hogan's Alley on his system with his zapper and it worked just fine. So I'm guessing it's the Zapper, IDK, it worked with SMB/Duck Hunt.
