I throught this was an allusion to Ben Laden, but apparently no.
Hey this thread is a great opportunity to review what happened on NESdev for the past 5 years (since 2006 that is). What comes to mind is :
-
Discoverythat the DPCM channels affect controller reading
-
Discoveryabout $2007 reads during the frame
- Blargg has
discovereda complex way to do stable synchronisation with the PPU, but unfortunately he left the communauty, before finding any applications about his discovery.
- Relase of the
PowerPak, a device that allows you to play NES ROMs on real hardware via a compact flash memory card. (a similar device for the SuperNES was also released).
- Release of homebrews, unfortunately all shareware, on
RetroZone. (I haven't played any so I don't know much about them).
- I don't remember if the
Wikiwas already here in 2006, but if it was it sure has changed a lot since then and is a lot more complete.
Maybe there is a few other minor things I don't remember, but those are the major event that happened here in 5 years.
