I was browsing a few photos I shot a few years ago when I visited the swedish Nintendo-distributor Bergsala and I noticed this cable in front of their NES. Looks like a joypad->Parallelport-connector or something? I am not aware of any hardware addon using such a cable, or do you guys know better?
It's a 25-pin Sub-D port. Those ports are used for various purposes, including PC parallel ports, but that's not necessary the intent.
Perhaps this allowed someone to use the NES controller with a computer through the parallel port, but it could be something completely else as well. I don't even see on the picture whether the joypad port is male or female. Perhaps this was simply a cable to plus another controller in the NES. Or a cheat system.
It looks like it's for a
piano.
Yeah, looks like the Miracle cable.
