"Street Fighter II" (Super Nintendo) with stereo sound?

In the options screen of "Street Fighter II" for the Super Nintendo, you can choose between stereo and mono sound. The arcade version of the game only had mono sound though. So, does anybody know how the stereo sound works in the Super Nintendo version? Do the voices of the characters are hearable relative from their on-screen location? Are certain parts of the music only hearable on one speaker? How is stereo sound actually done in this game?

Lots of things about Street Fighter II SNES are not the same as the original arcade version. The sprites are all smaller, and the music is all rewritten for a sample-based synthesizer rather than an FM synth.
So naturally, the songs can put tracks wherever they want in stereo. You can hear it even in the title song.

It would be a bit interesting if asked about Arcade x Genesis versions, regarding the sound. ;)

Yes, I know this of course. I was just wondering that the Super Nintendo version actually adds something that the arcade version doesn't have.

Because the Mega Drive version also uses FM synthesis for its music?

That wonderful pause sound is a very notable added thing in the SNES version.
