New homepage and version 1.24 released. Here's what's new:
http://nestopia.sourceforge.net/
Are you the author of this emulator? All you ever do is talk about it. If we want to know if another version is out we will check ourselves. Thank you.
WedNESday doesn't speak for me.
Harshness aside, this sub-forum is for discussion of NES emulator development, not consumption. There are probably hundreds of sites which keep up with the latest emulator releases and "scene" happenings. On-topic postings here are questions about emulation and ideas/source code for use in emulators.
The point of limiting discussion to specific topics in each sub-forum is that it allows people with limited time to quickly filter out content they're not interested in. There are plenty of people interested in discussion of emulator development and implementation, but not in the latest release of emulator X, so this limitation is practical.

blargg! We agree on something! Yay!
Agreed, but let's get one thing straight here. I am the author and I did not post that.
Speaking for myself, I don't think any NES emulator authors here would hype their emulator under a false name. This seems to me just one user's excitement over this particular emulator.

No problem, dude. Btw hats off for a great emulator (although i've never likee the default palette).
Can one of the more knowledgable people here compare and constrast Nestopia versus Nintendulator? What differences are there between the two with regards to accuracy? Is there any difference? They are supposed to be the 2 best emulators with regards to accuracy, and so it really does take somebody with an expert eye and ear to find differences in accuracy.
IMO Nestopia is better. Apart from WedNESday, it is the only emulator can run 10 Yard Fight properly. It's faster and has a better GUI. Although everyone's opinion is different (and I know that this post will be shot down in flames).

Top Left: WedNESday
Top Right: Nestopia
Bottom Left: Nintendulator (first glitch (top and bottom 8 lines display helmet))
Bottom Right: Nintendulator (second glitch (top of helmet missing))
(all latest versions)

That's probably because your ROM image has incorrect mirroring selected and Nestopia is using its internal database to correct it.
Try switching it to Horizontal mirroring and you'll probably find that it works just fine in every other emulator.
Definitely, and it also means that mirroring detection in WedNESday is broken
Unless you're using a database too, like Nestopia.
The top and bottom lines being visible is normal: the NES outputs them, but they're invisible on NTSC tv's.
Yeah WedNESday uses a database of it's own. Changing the mirroring in the header fixed in it Nintendulator.
Like blargg said, this board is to discuss NES emulation development. Anything about best-worst emu is pointless... It just makes the programmer to go dizzy...
Understand?
Yep, comparison of each person's value system regarding various emulator features turns into complete boredom. This thread will die on its own in a week or so. :)
I'll kill it now.
(*Bang* *Bang*)
I think that NesDev needs a subforum for emulator announcements. There is nothing wrong with pimping your emulator, and I think that this site is one of the first places that such a thing should be done. So how about it? This subforum is for technical discussions, while a new forum can be made for emulator pimping, reviews, etc.
I think all the new emulators are getting so accurate that there is less and less distinction between them!
I don't think a seperate section on the forum is really needed, I doubt it'd get much use. Any emu authors think otherwise?
Maybe a sticky topic in here for emu release/updates/reviews might work alright.
Actually a while back I was considering making a seperate forum for NES program releases/comments (like a thread for each program, maybe with a link to each thread from the main site index). Maybe if I did that and also made a 'PC programs' comment forum too the emus would fit in there.
Any of this sound useful?

That would parallel "Announcements and Comments" on forum.gbadev.org.
At the very least a separate section for new release announcements would keep it out of the development forums. It would be kind of like the sports section - full of opinions and largely irrelevant. :)
