NROM-Repro (Homebrew) help
by on (#163765)
Hey there guys!

I'm puzzled.

I'm trying to do a repro of the homebrew Lan Master. It's free to download (do it, it's awesome espcially if you like Pipe Dreams!)

Nevertheless:

I got a NROM-256 as a donor: http://bootgod.dyndns.org:7777/profile.php?id=1470
...and two AT28C256. I used famirom to split and pad the rom file, then wrote the files to the eproms.

Popped them in and - nothing. Mh.

Do I have to rewire something? I thought NROMs can be dropped in.

Famirom has this info about the rom:

Code:
Lan_Master.nes
iNES ver.: 1.0
 platform: NES
   mapper: 0
mirroring: Vertical
 prg size: 32KB (256kb)
 chr size: 8KB (64kb)
  prg ram: not specified
  battery: no
  trained: no
TV system: NTSC (default)
boards: (NROM [NROM])
crc32:
    file [8AF59FF8]
    prg  [68396F0A]
    chr  [E1B0A3AE]

Anybody out there with an idea?

The AT28C256 puts A14 on pin 1 instead of on pin 27, where the cartridge expects it to be, so you'll need to do a tiny bit of rewiring for the PRG.

ah, thanks a lot! I tied pin 1 to hole 27 and pin 27 to pin 28 - at both prg and chr, just to be sure. Works fine now!

Thanks again!
