So I want to make a Little Magic which is 512k. can I just swapbin it and burn or do I need to somehow double it since it's not 1MB? I used SNES ROM Utility and it gives a 512kb .bin file
I believe the smallest games are 2 Mbit, which equals 256 kilobytes. Why would 512 kbytes be a problem? (I've never made a repro, btw).
What 1 MiB 'PROM are you using?
You only need to duplicate/pad the image if you're flashing into a larger 'PROM than the source image.
I never duplicated/padded the ROMs to fill the entire space of the EPROM I use and all works fine.
If you use a 27c801, just swapbin it, wire accordingly and you're done.
The swap bin only works on the 27c080. it won't work on the 040 eproms because pin1 is a programming pin and on an 080 it's A19.
Get Lunar Expand and expand your image to 1mbyte and then use a 080 eprom and swap bin it.
Yeah, that's correct. If I used 27c040 I wired accordingly:
Bend up pins 1,2,24,30,31
Pin 1 = NC
Pin 2 = Hole 24
Pin 24 = Hole 31
Pin 30 = Hole 1
Pin 31 = Hole 2

this is what I'll do but now my question is, do I do this to the swapbined 512k .bin file or do I just straight program the .smc using this method?
No such thing as swapbin for 512kb ROMs. You simple burn it and solder it like I said.
swapbin is only for 27c801 eproms

Finally got around to trying this and it worked great! Took me forever of googling to find out what NC stood for... For anyone in the future who may find this it means "not connected"
