Choosing the right SNES board for Kazzo cart programmer
by on (#152323)
I just picked up a Kazzo cartridge "INL Retro" Dumper-Programmer and im not so sure on how to pick the right SNES reproduction flash board.

They pretty much have 3 options:

Hi/Lo-ROM 4MByte (32Mbit)
Hi/Lo-ROM 8MByte (64Mbit)
Hi/Lo-ROM 12MByte (96Mbit)

Im interested on making a repro of E.V.O and im not sure wich board i must buy.

Using the 'snesROMUtil' program i got this information on the EVO rom file.

My question is, wich board is the right one if the programs says '16 Mbit / LoROM', i dont see any '16 Mbit' board (just 32, 64 and 96).

Any advice??

I only have 1 board on me, and I am 90% through the game. If you can wait till this time tomorrow I can give you an answer on if it would work on a 4mb board.

Hi/Lo-ROM 4MByte (32Mbit) works for 99% of the games.

Hi/Lo-ROM 8MByte (64Mbit) is used for games like Tales of Phantasia, Super Demo World - The Legend Continues

Hi/Lo-ROM 12MByte (96Mbit) is only used for the Star Ocean 12MB Hack that decompressed the S-DD1 graphics.

You're fine with the 32MBit variant.

I burned E.V.O. USA with Retro-Prog today. The game threw no errors when burned and starts up just fine on a 4mb cart.

Some games detect ROM mirroring (actually the lack of) as being run on a copier. So it won't work for all games. Keep it in mind.

There's always a bypass for that, too. :P
