Problem with an MMC3 Repro
by on (#150236)
I've got a weird problem and i can't find anyone who had the same problem as me.
So i've been trying to make a "Flintstones, The: The Surprise at Dinosaur Peak!" Repro.
I took this game here(German Junglebook) as a donor.
The chips is burned are a TMS27C010A-10JL for the PRG and a M27C2001-10F1 for the CHR.
The chips themselves should be good since i burned them without problem and they verified fine with both the programmers i own.

The wiring i did:
CHR:
bend up 1,2,22,24,30,31
pin 2 to hole 24
pin 22 to hole 31
pin 24 to hole 2
pin 30 to hole 1

PRG:
lift pin 1,2,24,30,31
pin 2 to hole 24
pin 24 to ground
pin 30 to hole 1
pin 31 to hole 2

The game seems to play fine from what i can make out (Music, Intro, Gameplay)
But it seems as if there is a problem with the CHR since there are no sprites whatsoever. Everything consists of different colored blocks.

May this be a problem with the type of chip i chose for my chr rom?
I really got no idea what ive done wrong anymore and i couldn't find any details on this online since most people only have problems with garbled graphics...

Ok sorry for posting again.
It seems that the problem was indeed the M27C200. I dunno if i somehow killed it or if it doesn't work with that kind of eprom but after i desoldered it and soldered
an atmel 27c020 prom in it's place it worked.
I've also soldered pin 31 to pin 32 for 5V now and the only floating pin is now 1. I guess i should ground pin 1 now right?
There is still one tiny problem too though. When starting up the cartridge there is some minor flickering on screen until i press start and the intro starts. Any ideas on what could cause this?
