LP2950 Volt Reg & MX29L3211

I'm trying to do an SO44 repro, and I'm having some problems getting it to boot.

Using an MX29L3211MC-10G, with an LP2950 as the voltage regulator, and I'm only getting a black screen.
I lifted pins 1, 23, and 33 and soldered the output of the LP2950 to it, but no dice.

I'm not sure on the EXACT model, since I bought these years ago, but could it be that the voltage regulator isn't pushing enough current?

I bought some AMS1117 SMD regulators, so it may be a moot point in a week, but I thought I'd get some feedback from my betters.

Those regulators need capacitors on the input and output lines. I want to say it's 22uf but can't remember for sure. Tantalum I think....

Even a 1uf cap should suffice, really. But yeah, its as Mark said, tie it to the VCC out and GND on the voltage reg. I've done this mod before using a ceramic 1uf cap and it worked great.

Would a tantalum cap work?
I've got too many of them.

Yes, 2 tantalums would be fine, just mind the polarity and voltage rating.
