use Mario Paint As donor for Zelda Parallel
by on (#136539)
Hi, I want to make a copy of zelda parallel on a cart and I've been reading on it a lot in the past week. I want a make sure I understood the basic before trying anything. Mario Paint is a Lorom as zelda parallel, Mario paint has 256kbits sram that is more than enough for zelda that is 64kbits, Correct me if I'm wrong.

I was thinking about using 2x27c801 mount one above with swapbin for only rewire 24/31,But I didn't understand complety the part of using adress decoder in multiple eprom.

So If someone could help me see more clear on this, that would be apreciate.

Does it rely on SRAM mirroring? A lot of Super NES copy protection depends on the exact size of the SRAM, assuming that writes to one mirror will go to other mirrors. If you run into any copy protection, and you don't want to patch it out, the first thing to do is lift the high unused address lines from the board (in this case A13-A14) and ground them.

When your talking to ground a13 and a14, It's on the 256kbit sram, so pin 1 and 26, So like it will work as a 64kbit for legend of zelda parallel world. My question is now on fact I will be using a 8mbit donor 1A5B with only one mask rom and I want to put two eprom in it, So How I do wire the pin 22/24 on eprom 1 and eprom 2 considering there is no mad-1 only a 74sl139...

you'd be better of using NHL95, as its got 64K sram already and 2 maskroms.

Is it possible to use multiple eprom that kind of board, Do I need An extra decoder, Rewiring? I Know I can't use a dip36 to tsop40 because I have a 32 pin mask rom on my board...

I don't think it's possible to run a 16mbit game on that cartridge if it only has a 32pin mask rom (and doesn't have a 36 pin mask rom slot).

I recently tried this and I never could get it to work.

I don't think the PW Zelda has protection. But Getafixx is right, you should use a different donor.

I found some Nba Live 96, and 97, Only one mask rom, but It has a mad-1 decoder, so if I use wasabi, Edit: Pin 31 of the eprom to 24 on board and each 24 from eprom to pin 1 and 16 on mad, then I need to connect Mad-1 pin 15 to cart pin 40 since I will be using 2 eprom, I also need to wire a19 to a21 from mad-1 to mask rom pin on the board, and gnd pin 10 of mad-1, Is this starting to look good?

I'd be interested in revising this topic, as I come across Mario Paint carts quite often. Boards like SHVC-2A3B-01 only use a 74SL139 and have 2x 32 pin Mask Roms.

Here's a link to the board:
http://www.snescentral.com/pcbboards.php?chip=SHVC-2A3B-01

I've attempted something similar to what ZemAc has been trying. So far I've Expanded my rom image to 16Mbit, then ran it through Wasabi, where I removed header, swap binned and split into two files. I've installed the first eprom with pins 24 & 31 lifted onto the top (chip side) of the board. Wire runs from pin 31 to the pad where pin 24 should go. Then a wire from lifted pin 24 to 74SL139 pin 4.

Then on the underside of the board, I have married the second eprom. Pin 31 is wired to the same pad as the first eprom. then pin 24 on the second eprom is wired to pin 5 of the 74SL139 chip.

When I test the card, I get the logo, then it crashes and makes glitchy sounds. I'm assuming this is because it is unable to map the second eprom properly. I say this because I get the same effect when trying to run the first eprom by itself in my test cart.

All the current diagrams out there either show the incorporation of MAD-1 chips, or 36 pin Sockets containing A20/21 pads needed for eprom selection. But if it can be done on SHVC-2A3B-01 boards which only use a 74SL139 decoder and two 32 pin Mask Roms, then it should be possible. But I do not have a SHVC-2A3B-01 board that I could use to follow traces.
