I have always loved the remake of SMB1 for the SNES on the SMB AllStars cart. My question is has anyone ever done a remake of SMB1 using SMB3? It was an idea that popped into my head today. I went through all the ROM's I have and well no luck.
Maybe someone here knows something.
thanx eh
You mean a plain
MI3 hack? SMB3's lack of flagpole is a problem. MI3's lack of support for any operating system still sold is a problem.
I guess ill be playing the SNES AllStars version then.
Thanx for the reply.
Maybe you could at least rip SMB3's mario sprite and put it down into the rom of SMB1. I rembmer playing a weird mario game on a 3-in-1 ROM that is downloadable from NESdev main page (well by the way I'm gonna download it again).

There are plenty of "Super Mario 1.5" hacks that improve SMB1's graphics while still using SMB1's engine. But they all need some asm hacking to compensate for the different stance that Mario has when standing still in SMB1 and SMB2j compared to the rest of the games.

You could always use one of the 6 other SMB3 editors out there. SMB3 Workshop comes to mind.
I tried SMB3 workshop and wow its so easy, I messed with level 1 for five mins. It doesnt get any easier than that eh.
Thank you Disch!
One series wich I think has the less gameplay related changes over time should be Fire Emblem.
There is really little difference between early and later Fire Emblem games, so I guess it wouldn't be hard to hack GBA Fire Emblem's ame engine to run enhanced version of erlier games, or the other way arround to hack Fire Emblem 1's engine to run downgraded version of the GBA Fire Emblems.
The only significant difference, aside of the graphics, is that latter games have slightly more classes and allow new enemy or alies unit to come during battle trough cutscenes, while on older FE games people talk only at the begining and the end of each mission, and no new unit ever comes to the field no matter what.
I was going to make a remake of SMB1 under the SMB3 engine.
Just need to tweek it around since there's no flag poles and stuff.
One thing I wish that there was was a dumb seperating all the SMAS games into single SNES roms.
