Does this board needs another administrator?
by on (#33740)
At this point, there appear not to be enough users who both 1. regularly visit the board and 2. have administrator rights. This means that if spammers flood this board, there often won't be anybody to block them. What should be done?

by on (#33746)
Yes.

I nominate you and blargg. I already asked kev. He doesn't want to.

If jargon ever decides to retaliate via MANY proxies, there's nothing stopping him.

Hopefully he just gets pissed off at the world and blames everyone but himself at his personal forum as usual.

If there is to be others with admin rights, I'd definitely go with the same people you picked B00daw; Tepples and Blargg. Both respected and knowledgeable. They seem fair.

by on (#33748)
I would also maybe pick Blargg, but I'm afraid that he'll delete all of my posts since I can't "participate in a thread without littering it with your opinion". He's very well respected around here, and knows a ton of stuff I would never even think of about the NES. However, he and I have had a difference or two of opinion about what can be considered spam.

Oh, and probably don't get someone who hates a specific user; they might just delete all that person's posts just because. But generally, these boards are professional and there isn't much obscene language/board drama around here, except towards jargon. Just don't get someone who's going to be a tyrant.

I hate spammers more than anything so I would insult them so they would kill themselves in real life. Pick me for that.

Any moderator can already move and delete posts.

I belive Memblers is the only administrator and he's not arround a lot lately. I don't know if that's the cause of increase spam or not, tough. BTW Quietuts would have made a fromidable administrator/moderator with his hyper-technical point of view on everything, but unfortunately he's gone.

Well, Tepples, you seem to be extremely active on this site, I believe you would actually make a good administrator. You seem to know what's in the best interest of the users around here, so I'd actually nominate you. Can't Administrators do the same stuff as moderators, just more? If that's the case, this board may not need a moderator, but just another administrator.

I see Tepples has administrative powers now! Congrats on the second promotion : )

Thank you.

Go for it Tepples!

Yay! I am quite sure Tepples, you'll make a good admin and we won't have to worry about a tyrant deleting all of our posts :).

Another forum, tetrisconcept.com, just upgraded to phpBB 3 today. I ended up demoted to "Global Moderator", a new rank in phpBB 3 that sits between moderator and administrator. A Global Moderator can block users, but not change board-wide settings or create new forums.

I could be a moderator. Any objections? ;) I have a cable connection, pretty fast, and my free time is mostly during the night.
