Will Dragon Quest VI fit on a 27C322?
by on (#104318)
Well, the title says it all :) A friend gifted me a japanese Dragon Quest VI for the SUper Famicom. Well, unfortunatly I don't speak any japanese, so I want to solder an english translated Version to it.

I made some repros before but never did a game this "big". I'm quite unsure about the 27C322, maybe you guys do know if it fits?

It's big enough, but it's a 16-bit ROM.

Oh, I thought it's a 32 one. That means I need a 27C160?

32Mbit capacity, 16-bit data bus. Means you need a multiplexer to decode the upper/lower bytes for each address.

Ack, I have no idea how to build that :/ Too bad, the Dragon Quest will remain Japanese then :/

(btw, my friend is in Japan and asked me if he should send me a game - "of cource", I said, "but please choose a game without much text"..

Gna :(

There aren't any tutorials for this, are there?

Just grab a 29F032B on an adapter board from BuyICNow (AMD AM29F032B-75EC -TSOP Adapter III)

Woah, thanks a ton!

I have a willem programmer, is it able to write the rom to the 29F032B on the adapter? I do have a 16bit-adapter for the willem. Sorry for the noobish question, but it's my first 32bit-cart :S

I can't find the 29F032B in the "Device Select"-Menu, too o_O

Dunno, I'd ask on the Willem forums. Be sure to note that the DIP pinout on that adapter is NOT a standard pinout. You'll have to adjust accordingly.

Mhh, I can't find any information about the adapter's pinout. It seems that I have to use a multimeter to check the pinout. I'll ask over in the willem board - thanks for your help :)
