Any interest in this pcb?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_4XlVw2 ... ata_playerI made this to replace the yoshi's island mask rom with the tsop am29f032b
It does not come with the tsop so you'll have to find those on your own.
It's unassembled.
It's interesting but I don't really see the purpose of it. Is there a hack of Yoshi's island so good that people want to do this? Also the fact that it doesn't fit in the cart shell once installed kind of kill it for me.
No, it does fit in the shell... Perfectly.
More yoshi's island hacks are coming forth. Previously, the only way to play a YI hack was with emulators and power pack carts.
This is a true way to determine if a hack indeed works on real hardware.
Oh I tought it wouldn't fit, that's cool. I guess it's useful for people making hack of the game eventough testing on bsnes should be pretty accurate too. How much will you sell them for out of curiosity?
Are they available for purchase right now, and for how many bills?
This is about the yoshi's island adapter. It's bare so you have to add the parts. The edges are side plated as well as top and bottom so it's fairly easy to solder this adapter to the cartridge board.
I am not an expert solderer and I managed to get it on with no trouble.
Bare boards are $20 (which is my cost). I have 16 available and no more.
Boards are not here at the moment except for 1. The ones I have here (4) were for prototyping and testing before I get the rest. Anyone who get one, I'll send Pin out of the header if you choose to program it on the pcb itself.
I guess if there's a big enough interest, I could order another batch.

Update: boards are in if anyone wants them.

This would be cool is you could use this type of board to make the starfox 2
Yes and no. Electrically, yes. Physically, no.
This was made to adapt to the Yoshi's Island cartridge pcb. Start Fox 2 won't run on a Yoshi's Island pcb -- apparently not enough SRAM.
This adapter was made for running Yoshi's Island Hacks on real hardware.
I have a new version of this now..... where it has a rom board that is removeable so you can change the rom or reprogram the tsop without removing the parts.
http://youtu.be/MooCcCgfU34Currently working on a "star fox trilogy" that has all 3 games [star fox, star fox 2 and star fox competition weekend]
Who did you have make the pcb's?
A local CAD Designer. He's very good!
and what service did you use for your big run of 20 boards?
I use 10pcb.com I'm certain that there are cheaper services but this one is pretty good prices compared to most. Because I had the pcbs "edge plated" for the best possible soldering to where the mask rom would sit, the cost was high. Edge plating is where the plate the side of the pcb.
I'm planning on making a "star fox 2 adapter" for the doom cartridge. It's because the mask rom on doom sits in a different position than the stunt race and yoshi's island. I'm going to try to also add save circuitry but I'm not too optimistic that that will work....
If you use 10pcb, please mention that I referred you.
I'm about a month away from having the "doom" adapter done.

If the doom mod works out, I know i'll take a couple boards.
Ill keep you posted if it works or not.
But the trilogy part I know will work. I've already tested that and it works fine. It's the save aspect I don't know about yet.
