Hi guys,
I'm trying to write to a am29f032b with a Willem GQ-4x programmer. Unfortunately I'm not having much luck. The chip will not ID, Verify or blank check.
I'm using a base adapter (model: ADP-082) with a TSOP adapter ADP-077. The only setting in the Willem software is for a 29f032d.
Does anyone here have experience flashing these chips with this device? If so can you offer some assistance.
Also, is there a difference between the 29f032d and 29f032b. Will the 29f032d work for snes games?
Finally, what programmer do you guys use to program your chips?
Thanks!
UPDATE:
I made progress on this and thought I would post my results in case anyone else has problems with this.
On the ADP-082 adapter there is a jumper for v1.0 and v2.0 - Jumper must be set to v2.0
In the devices.txt file in the following line must be added
Name="AM29F032B*TSOP40",ID="0141",Class="29F040B",Category="FLASH",MFG="AMD",CodeSize="4194304",DIP="100011110101",Adapter="TSOP40B-DIP32(ADP-077 and ADP-082)";
Where is tha Jumper located?
I have a GQ04X and I been hitting my self in the head because I cannot get it to ID.
You know Pichichi010, I already told you most of your issue could be fixed by information already posted in past thread but I guess you're too lazy or want people to take you by the hand. I already posted where to connect the extended address line on a GQ-4X. As for mysteriousity, people mostly use the custom tsop to maskrom adapter board to program those chip. I remember the official adapter having issue on gq-4x, a quick search on the gq-4x official forum will tell you many people had issue.
are you talking about this?
For the extended address, the pin on the 40 pin zif socket of the GQ-4x are as follow (found by trial and error )
A19 = PIN 4
A20 = PIN 37
A21 = PIN 38
It might be the same or similar for the G540 if you're lucky.
So this means I bend those pins on the adapter and connect them on the top address lines to the GQ-4X respective pin sockets?
And besides that, Another member contacted me with another bug, if this is the solution, it is only part of it. he pointed out a GQ-4X software bug.
I no longer have any issue using GQ-4x beside having to unplug/replug the usb cable and restart the software every once in awhile because it's bugged and not stable.
yea very unstable. I was recommended by buyicnow staff to unprotect the chip, and when i try the software does a massive error and freezes up real bad.
Im sorry if I come up lazy or slow, but I still don't have clear if the way I described how to place the extra address lines is the correct way.
My first language is not English and sometimes is hard to get the right meaning out of instructions. or I confuse instructions.
I havent been in this forum for over MONTHS, i havent asked any questions here for a loooong time.
I even gave my GQ-4x to JJgames so he could dump powerfest 94 and walked him through it. He successfully did.
Im asking how to make a cool menu for the multicart, and if it is possible to combine roms into one.
the multicart is already done, and the profits will benefit developers for the games, I am hardly getting any profits.
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt for the moment that it's a multicart of original games, like Garage Cart.
Haha, my little Atari game is more than most people ever accomplish. Also, what other SNES games are on there? I mean, there's not much more SNES homebrew to go around to put on a multicart, so it must be hacks, so it must be just a bunch of Nintendo games on one then. Not that I have a problem with that myself, it's just.....you didn't really create anything still, so I don't have the same respect as somebody who actually knows what they're doing by research and working at it.
And I do make games. I made some test ROMS too. And I don't think I'm the shit, I'm a joke compared to most people here with knowledge, but I still do know a thing or two about NES programming and such things still. And I don't have an Atari game, although I do have the A2600 game port of Kaboom done. And I think it looks great, but you should probably ask
Tokumaru weather it really looks
ugly.
no im not a developer 3gengames lol,
I just put together the people to the this and Invested the money that is needed for the project.
and Im not gonna tell you what is on the games, but it is not hacks, think whatever you want,
and Im just barely starting.
Im open to ANY snes developer to give them a space for their games, I dont judge and point fingers
And if there's only a couple SNES homebrews, and you're making a multicart...unless this thing is only 3 games, where are the other games? I doubt they're not hacks. And prototypes don't count. And that's good the money is going to them, good stuff. If it wasn't, I'd be disappointed in our community by backing people stealing peoples Homebrews!
And you're not a developer, that's fine, I don't care. Just try to learn something when you ask a question, don't just want walked through it.
And I still, as of this post, have made 0 Atari games.
There is more than 3, the only problem right now is that 1 is Hi-rom and the rest are lo-roms, and im not sure if that one can be added. besides the hi rom game has been already released (rom) while back but never sold in a cart.
My entire goal is to release 2 Snes games a year.
so I mean i little bit of support would help, instead of trashing me.
I havent asked anything in a long time, and I dont think I would ask anything like that ever now.
I'm not trashing you, you just are going about it like how you are, wanting to do something and not doing anything but wanting to throw money at people who'll do a little bit of it. But still, I'm not trashing you, it's just...I don't agree with how you're doing it. I mean, if you seemed a little more literate and had more concentrated and not scrambled/spontaneous ideas, maybe I'd not say as much about it.
Alright I respect your opinion and Will try my best not to jump with crazy Ideas.
I really believe in collectivism and I like to credit or even pay someone when they help me or do something for me.
that is why I offer payment for the time and effort.
and Dude Im doing all this because I love SNES, if you ever decide to do a SNES game and want to release it and need help, I will totally help you or anyone.
Thanks, but the thing is I may not have much to show out side of my ROMS but I have the equipment to release such games too. But thanks for the offer! But the other thing is...we have people come and go trying to create stuff, games or carts or everything, that come and go in drove. It's just...you have to assume everyone will disappear and never get anything done basically, and it's hard for me to support anybody until they also have shown then can put a product together and such.
Thats ok I understand,
Na, I already put to much money into a cart mold LOL.. I wouldnt want to drive off that.
I been reading on and off on this, since 2006, but never had the money to start doing it.
But yeah, I plan to stay.
OK, no more posts about posting pichichi's dox in this topic please.
