Powerpak says DSP1 not installed

my boot up screen of powerpak says DSP1 NOT INSTALLED

why does that happen? I tried different powerpok versions same error.

I am an idiot. I didn't think it supported it. I have no idea....

Yes it does...bunny offers an option to solder one in. (you did check that option right?) Sounds like he made a soldering cock up.

yes I did... worked before no problem.

mhm how can I check that on the PCB ? where is the chip located?

here are the pictures of the chip. Does it looks ok to you?

Can't really see anything wrong in those pics. It worked before? In that case its probably not the soldering after all.

well it says now DSP1 installed but I've tried some other DSP1 games like Pilotwings and Final Stretch none of them worked properly.

there mus be dev. a prob with the chip. How much was the DSP1 option in the Retrousb shop?

I don't really care about the chip because I have Mario Kart also original.

Thats a crappy looking solder job.

by on (#82085)
Agreed, the soldering job looks awful, and I see what appear to be a couple cold solder joints (don't know what they are, look 'em up). Re-do the soldering job.

Why does it appear like it was soldering on from the top side? You're generally supposed to have a Parts Side and a Solder side. While you can certainly solder on both, it looks like shit. A bad solder joint could certainly be causing your problems. If the behavior changed where it was detected sometimes but not others that could definitely be the issue.
