Convert x Roms to 1 Multi Rom?
by on (#61904)
Hey everybody,

in the last year i have translate the Zelda AST to German.
The Game is split in 4 Weeks and 4 roms file for every week.

Me and some friends built a cardridge with 4 switches, so that we can switch to every week and play the game on real hardware.

I saw some "X in 1" Games on ebay and other forums for snes stuff.

My Question is, it is possible the join all 4 weeks to one rom and switch between this files via menu ? I saw in the program ucon64 gui a option with multi rom? It this a function like this is want?! or is this only for backup stations?!

You only need two switches, which give four combinations of settings. You could add a latch chip that's controlled by a menu, but you'd still have to patch one of the ROMs. If each ROM is small enough, you could put them all one one big ROM, and patch the code to run from different banks, thus using the SNES bank switching and not needing any extra hardware.

Personally I'd stick with a pair of toggle switches; it's not like you have to change them very often.
