Hello guys,
Things are growing out here and we are currently seeking a rom hacker that can deal with projects from simple to complex regarding SNES rom hacking.
There would be paid ongoing projects. Projects would be paid by contract after job is done, or if it is a larger project in milestones.
Your name would be added to the credits.
Inquiry within.
PD: If you don't personally do it but have an skilled friend, send him/her along!
Thanks!
Eli
I'm not sure if I am available to help with such projects, but I'm curious to know more about what kind of hacking you're proposing. I don't know whether you feel like giving any more details publically...
Can anyone comment briefly on the legality of profiting off a hack of a commercial SNES rom? I don't think I ever found a conclusive answer, I'm not sure if anyone actually knows.
Hello Piko,
Just to say, hiring someone to develop/sell homebrew is just fine. However, hiring someone for ROM hacking is completely different, because it means you will work on a reverse-engineered copyrighter program. Usually romahacking is considered fine as long as it remains 100% free, however, selling romhacks (even if the ROM hacker was paid) is illegal.
Well I was sort of interested until the question of legality was posed.
But if you have the games' actual publishers on board, that's another story.
I don't think there is any legal trouble if we paid in full for a license or complete ownership of the games.
Some of the hacking work involves fixing bugs of unreleased games, finishing up unfinished cancelled games. Polishing up and making a better version of previously released games (Jim Power for example). Rebranding games that third party licensing (for characters) has expired and we are not interested in re-licensing; deleting/adding old publisher logos with new publisher logos.
There are plenty of projects and all must be legal as we own the game or the rights to publish/modify the game. Hacking is just a term as we sometimes cannot get a hold of the source code, so it needs to be done through rom hacking.
Cheers!
