when i was younger i played with the famicom system, to tell you the truth it is the only system i've ever played, anyway i've grown up a bit and found the system and were i can by it but i want the card or disk, what ever you call it these days, my grandmother won't give me the game card so i have to find one like it. anyway it has like 150 games on this one card, tetris tetrisII, supermario superfast mario. duck hunt ect, and a bunch of random games in between. i'm wondering what its called if anyone knows and where i should look for it, with intent to buy. like a said my grandmother won't give hers up until her neighbours kids grow up. so i need one!
That's called a "pirate multicart". Nintendo took all legal action against their manufacture.
What you could do is get a Game Boy Advance (or Nintendo DS), a SuperCard CF, and several hundred homebrew ROMs off
pdroms.de.
If you ask over on digitpress, there will probably be people over there that will sell one to you. There are about a million different pirate multicarts so it may be hard to find one with the exact games you're looking for.
These pirate multicarts are very easy to find... around here, at least. They usually cost US$4,50 each. They're all chinese, aren't they? Some times we can find very nice games. I'm not sure if they are complete, though... One of the guys who sells these things once asked me if the games were complete and I coudn't answer him... O.o
Do many of these pirate multicarts have (PD) games on them?
None have any "modern" PD games, but some undoubtedly have a few games homebrewed by the pirate company.
Where else could i look for people with this possible disk, the people at digitpress are a little nasty, and by nasty i mean perverted
more often than pd are graphic hacks of commercial software. you'll have smb and then smb with mario as a bunny and called something different...
Oops, I was just making a comment off the top of my head. The serious developers here undoubtedly know more about pirate multicarts. Could you clarify what Digitpress has to do with this?
sorry but what is pd and smb and what do you mean about mario and bunny?
I've seen people selling nes pirate multis in the buy/sell forum over at digitpress. I just think that if you want to buy a multicart a good idea would be to put a wanted ad in the buy/sell section at digitpress.com forum. There are probalby many other places to go also, I've just seen them for sale there.
I remember someone telling me that they found a multi and it had a super mario brother (smb) graphic hack. It had a different title screen and then the only graphic different in the game was that mario was made to look like a cute bunny creature. I think I saw a picture, but I'm too lazy to try and remember what forum that was on.
pd is public domain. I've seen 4 types of games on multi's myself. 1) A completely new game (not pd because I would assume that it's owned by the multi maker). 2) A completely new game but with stolen popular video game characters and maybe stolen gameplay too (street fighter for nes for example). 3) A pirated commercial game that has not been edited at all. 4) A pirated game that has grapical hacks (from just a title screen to an adventure island hacked with mario graphics to make a "new" mario game).
I missed that "digitpress is nasty" message. I think if you asked at most nes forums with a buy/sell area you can probably find someone with some they're willing to sell (nesworld.com, etc). They show up on ebay, but ebay usually pulls the auctions.
PD = Public Domain (although "homebrew" is more accurate from a legal perspective)
