Hi Everyone,
I am trying my hand at making a MMC3 game for the first time, just to see I can do it, as I love playing around with Electronics. I have done a lot of arcade repair in the past, and I have multiple donor boards laying around and a UV eraser and a Needham's EMP-10 a friend let me borrow a few years back. I have used this to bring back a few DK and DKJR arcade boards to life .
So on to the NES questions. I made the mistake of assuming 27256 and 27128 was 256K and 128K chips and attempted to burn my roms to them, well they worked....but what I didnt realize was the file was loaded into the EMP-10 program buffer which by default was 64K, and it ignored the rest of the file, so it just burned what it could i guess.
I then found two 27c040 chips off of a golden tee donor board I had laying around and I made the buffer mistake again with the larger chips.
So Now I adjusted the buffer and padded the file for 512K, and when I loaded the file into the application it says it loaded 512K, but when I goto program the rom it fails. It says that the eprom is erased, but no matter what I do it wont program.
Sometimes thought when I load the file into the buffer it gives me an error about the buffer being too small. Idk whatelse to try. I have also tried 27c1000 chips and they are verifying empty and they wont write either. Idk what to do now.
Has anyone else tried this old ass programmer?
